Why Weight?

Why Weight?

A guide with advice and a journal to track why and how you lose (or why you don’t lose) the weight you want to.

Hi. If you’re reading this, you’re probably either struggling with your weight or know someone who is. You might be asking yourself, “Why am I fat?” or, “Why am I still fat after trying everything?” Let’s cut the crap and stop lying—not just to others, but to yourself.

There are fat people, there are skinny people, and there are those in between. What I want you to do right now is ignore all the nonsense you’ve been told about gaining and losing weight while you read this.

Think about it: people are spending billions on weight-loss products and programs, yet we’re still surrounded by overweight people—many getting even fatter. Why is that? Why aren’t these things working?

Well, what would happen if the secret to losing weight actually got out? All those companies making billions from selling weight-loss solutions would lose their cash cow, right? It’s like the healthcare system: they treat diseases instead of curing them. If they cured you, you wouldn’t need their services anymore. Same with oil companies and electric cars—we could switch, but there’s a vested interest in keeping us dependent.

The truth is, we could all eat right and exercise, no pills or programs needed. So why don’t we?

It boils down to brainwashing and propaganda. You’re being used. Watch TV long enough, and you’ll feel fat, ugly, and worthless—until they sell you the “solution” to fix all that. They promise that if you just buy their product, you’ll lose weight, look great, and finally get everything you’ve ever wanted. They’re playing you.

You buy the magic pills, the ab machine, or the food program, and surprise! You’re still not happy—and maybe even gained more weight! Why?

Because the truth is: none of that stuff really works—at least not the way they sell it. Their goal isn’t for you to lose weight. Their goal is to get you to buy their product—and keep buying more. They don’t care if you lose weight; they care if you keep spending money. That’s why they offer those 90-day guarantees—they know most people won’t return the product because that would feel like admitting failure.

But how can they sell something that doesn’t really work? Well, it does—sort of. It worked for those people in the “before and after” photos, so why not you? Why aren’t those results typical? Why can’t you have those results?

Because you don’t really do it. You have false expectations. You get lazy. And you give up.

If you actually used that ab machine every day, I guarantee you’d see results. But here’s what happens: you buy it, use it for a week (if that), and then let it collect dust. Then you say, “It didn’t work!”—no surprise there.

Is it the machine’s fault, or is it yours?

Same with that diet you tried (while sneaking chips and chocolate on the side). You take those pills and expect them to magically shed pounds. And when they don’t, you throw up your hands. Why?

Let’s step into reality. No more BS, no more propaganda, no more brainwashing.

Those commercials and ads are brilliant. They know you better than you know yourself. They tell you exactly what you want to hear, promise you results, and show you a perfect body to dangle as bait. They ask, “Do you want to look like this?” Well, duh, of course, you do. They sell you overnight success, but here’s the real question: Are you ready to do the work, or are you just waiting for the magic solution?

How Your Body Works (Generally)

Your body is like a car—it needs fuel to run. That fuel is calories (energy). A calorie is just a measure of the energy needed to raise the temperature of water by one degree Celsius. Your body burns food for energy, just like a car burns gas.

When your car is low on gas, you fill it up. Your body works the same way—when you burn through your calories, you eat to refuel. But if you keep eating when your “tank” is already full, that extra energy spills over and gets stored as fat.

Think of your body like a car with a stretchy gas tank. You keep overfilling it, and it just keeps stretching to store more and more. Pretty soon, you’re hauling around way too much weight. And like a car that’s carrying too much, everything starts wearing out—tires, transmission, and performance go downhill. The same thing happens to your body when you’re overweight. Your joints, heart, and organs all struggle with the extra burden.

Your body only needs a certain amount of energy to function. If you’re more active, you’ll need more fuel. If you’re sitting all day, you’ll need less. The less you move, the less you need to eat. The more physical you are, the more fuel your body requires. It’s basic math: the faster you drive, the more gas you burn. The heavier the load, the more fuel you need.

Eat more than you need? You get fat. Eat less? Your body will start burning the fat you’ve stored.

And just like a car needs more than gas to run (brake fluid, oil, etc.), your body needs more than just calories. It needs vitamins, minerals, fats, sodium, and fiber to function properly. That’s what those labels on food are for—to tell you what you’re putting into your body.

Most people don’t know what a calorie is, let alone track their sodium intake. But the truth is, your body is incredibly adaptable. You’ve probably seen people who weigh 1000 lbs and are still alive, and others who weigh 90 lbs and somehow keep going. Our bodies can survive under all kinds of conditions, but they run best when taken care of. An unhealthy lifestyle not only shortens your life but makes it harder and less enjoyable.

You Are What You Eat

Your body is literally built from what you put into it. Junk in, junk body. Healthy food in, healthy body. That old saying, “You are what you eat,” isn’t just a cute phrase—it’s fact.

Not Everyone Is Created Equal

Yes, it’s true—some people seem to eat whatever they want and stay thin, while others gain weight easily. Some people can smoke and drink their whole lives and live to 100. But here’s the deal: we are not all created equal. One person might smoke their entire life and never get lung cancer, while someone else might get it after just a few years. It’s the same with weight and health. Our bodies and minds respond differently to what we do and don’t do.

An unhealthy lifestyle affects both your body and your brain. And just like your liver can fail from drinking too much, your brain can be affected by what you eat and how you live. The same way alcohol clouds your judgment, so can a poor diet and lack of exercise.

It’s not just what you do, but also what you don’t do that impacts your health. Your body and mind both need the right fuel to function properly. If you’re wondering why you feel bad, both mentally and physically, it might have more to do with what you’re putting into your body—or what you’re not.

The Medication Trap

Let’s say you’re overweight, sad, and can’t sleep. You go to the doctor, and they prescribe you a pill for each problem—one for sleep, one for weight loss, and an antidepressant. The doctor might even mention eating right and exercising, but a pill is a lot easier, right? You start taking the meds, feel better for a while, maybe even lose a few pounds, but then... they stop working. You gain the weight back, you’re sad again, and now you can’t sleep. What do you do? You go back for more pills.

It’s a cycle that won’t end until you realize pills aren’t the solution. They’re just a temporary fix. You don’t need a treatment; you need a cure.

Ask Yourself: Why?

Why are you tired? Why can’t you sleep? Maybe because you’re not really tired. Why are you sad? What’s going on in your life that’s causing these feelings? It’s time to dig deeper. Are you doing something you don’t want to be doing? Are you not doing something you want to do?

Maybe you’re overweight and don’t know what to do. But here’s the thing: your mind and body are under your control. Use them, or they will use you.

You don’t need medication to fix what’s wrong. You don’t need pills, programs, or equipment to lose weight. If something is asking you to keep paying for it without solving the problem, it’s not a solution—it’s using you.

Fix the Problem

The key to losing weight and improving your life isn’t some magic product. It’s about taking control—of your mind, your body, and your actions. Start now, and stop waiting for a magic pill to save you.
