CHAPTER TWELVE:

Implications

In this chapter I try to explain some things that are usually unexplainable. What was going on in Da Vinci’s mind that enabled him to do all of this? What does that imply about our own potential? Why don’t we try to reach them ourselves?

What does all of this really mean? How did Leonardo Da Vinci do all of this? What did he know that everyone else didn’t? How did he paint the Mona Lisa? How did he design her to match up and combine with other images?

These are the most attractive questions to me, because once answered we could unlock that potential in ourselves.  I’ll be presenting some ideas that some people believe in whole heartedly but which I cannot have 100% confidence in unless I could experience them myself. Almost all of which have been demonstrated before but not in a way that everyone believes in them. Why is that? That’s another thing I hope to touch on in this chapter.

One thing to remember about Da Vinci that was to his advantage and my disadvantage was actually the lack of modern conveyances. Why would I have to figure out how light works or its properties when other people already have? BUT with access to artificial light and being almost unable to go without it. It’s like not being able to see the stars as well in the city due to all the lights. It’s like that with almost everything today because there is so much interference. The difference between a candle and sunlight would be a lot different than florescent bulbs and computer monitors. Suffice to say it’s the advancements that make it more difficult to break everything down to their more simple parts because we don’t need to anymore - or do we?

There is so much interference, so much fuzzy noise. My ears are always ringing and my mind is never clear.

Alternately, I have access to almost any information instantly so it’s not like I’m complaining! But sometimes I just want some silence.

Lucid Visualization:

This is something that’s been very fascinating to me. I’ve been trying to understand it and even attempt it on a daily basis for months. Da Vinci pondered the very same thing himself;

“Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in a dream at night than in the imagination during the day?”

I haven’t been able to find much about this and most people would never even think of it as something possible or if they could - wouldn’t understand it. Put really simply it’s being able to dream during the day. But unlike day dreaming you would be able to literally see something that wasn’t’ there, like a controlled hallucination. If it’s possible to see and experience things in your dreams which are obviously not really there; Why can’t we project those images and ideas during the day?  Like, would it be possible to imaging a stick figure running around on your desk?  You might be able to IMAGINE that, but when you’re imagining that are you actually SEEING it? Of course you can’t see something that’s not there but then what are you seeing in your dreams?

Would it be possible to break the barrier and start to have your imagination manifest as an actual vision?  I believe it is. I know it is. It’s something that would take constant practice and refinement. It’s also something that our minds prevent us from doing for good reason – but also might explain the delusions of people we consider crazy. What if they can do this, but can’t control it? Like I’ve said, maybe they really are talking to people!

TRY IT:

Think of a candle. Can you imagine it? When you try to, what is it that you are doing? Are you remembering a specific candle or a generic one? What does it look like? Draw whatever came to mind when you thought of a CANDLE Draw it before you turn to the next page.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a good artist; drawing takes a lot of practice. But what this is exercise is trying to do is allow you to focus on what your actual thought is made of. Now try to describe the candle you imagined with words; (Write a couple sentences describing it) Color, texture, shape, size,

Was your candle lit? What color is the flame? How bright is it? Does the candle have something holding it? Was there wax dripping down the sides?

Close your eyes and try to imagine it again. Can you see it? Can you change your mental perspective? Turn it around in your mind? Look at it from the bottom, from the top? Try to manipulate it in your mind so you can see it from all angles. Can you actually see it? Now open your eyes.

How similar was the candle in your mind to the candle you drew? If you tried hard enough could you get it exact? What angle would you have drawn it at? Have you ever seen that candle before? Was it imagined or a memory? A combination of both? If you said you could see it in your mind – was it an actual picture or image? Or just a thought? If it’s an actual image then close your eyes again and think of it..

Now close your eyes and think of nothing – absolutely nothing.

What do you see? Draw it;

When you’re closing your eyes what is it that you’re actually “seeing?” Is it complete darkness – the back of your eye lids, or your mind? If you could actually SEE that candle in your mind – in that darkness then could you close just one eye and see the same thing? Would it be projected into whatever your other eye was seeing? If you could see that image in the total darkness then could you see it in half darkness? What is that darkness made out of? Do you see anything else? Colors maybe? What is that that you are seeing when you’re eyes are closed? Try looking at a bright light for a couple seconds and then shutting your eyes – you’ll see it for a  while before it goes away. How can you see a light that’s not there?

Now put our your hand like you’re holding a candle;

Can you imagine yourself holding it? What about with your eyes closed? If you can picture it with your eyes closed then could you project that into your hand with your eyes open?

What I’m trying to understand is the connection between memory and imagination and vision itself. We’re able to literally see things while we dream – imagine and project them to be real – but why can’t we while we’re awake? Maybe you can. I am constantly trying to enable myself to envision something in my mind and then have it appear as a vision – like a dream. This would enable someone to draw anything they could imagine by literally projecting it onto a sheet of paper and tracing it. I think Da Vinci was able to do this and it explains how he created what he did. It’s like having a photographic memory but being able to draw what you see. I think it’s something that would take a lot of practice and refinement but once accomplished could enable you to do all kinds of amazing things. You could solve math problems in your head as you would on paper and much more.

I also think this is how a lot of autistic savants do what they can. I think they can take mental photographs that are remembered with amazing accuracy. There are even some who can paint an exact replica of a Picasso!

I also think with enough practice you would be able to evoke a little “dyslexia” and see things in a reversed manner. Maybe see something with one eye and then mirror it with the other. What is the darkness when we close our eyes and can we control it like we do when we’re dreaming? It would belike having a mental danger room in your head! (From x-men) You could design anything and store it how you would in a computer. I know it’s possible I guess what we have to do next is figure out how to unlock our potential.

When you remember something or think of something what is happening in your mind? Do you see a picture of it in your mind? When you remember something that happened to you, can your replay it like a movie in your mind? What is a thought made out of? If you think of a circle right now, do you see it? If you’re seeing it inside your head could you close your eyes and see it as if it were real? You can do it in your dreams so why can’t you do it when you’re awake?

I bet there are plenty of people out in the world who can do this. They might not even realize it’s significant or maybe they consider themselves crazy. There is a very good reason why our minds don’t allow our thoughts to be manifested in a lucid visualization. If you didn’t have control over it, it could be a pretty scary experience. This state can be induced with LSD and Mushrooms or other psychotropic substances and the effect can either be what they call a “bad trip” or a “good trip” a night mare or a good dream. I’ve never been able to actually visually SEE something that wasn’t there. (I’ve also never tried LSD) I’ve come close but each time I have wasn’t seeing something that wasn’t’ there but something that was in a different way. I’ve been able to do this when I’ve forced my eyes from blinking and trying to keep my eyes from focusing on anything.

If it is possible for someone, somewhere, at some time to do these amazing things then I would assume that Da Vinci, the world’s greatest mind could have been able to as well.

Remote Viewing:

There is also something called “Remote viewing” or “Astral Projection” that the people who can do it swear to. I’ve tried this myself but haven’t been able to yet but I’m confident it’s possible. The only question I have is if it’s something created inside your mind, or something actually transcends the skull. Essentially it is letting your mind leave your body but you’re in control of where it goes. This isn’t far fetched at all and has basically been proven in a very scary way!

There have been people getting surgery, totally unconscious, who “wake up” and can see everything that’s being done to them. Their eyes ARE NOT OPEN. When they wake up they can tell the doctor where he placed certain objects and what they did. How freaky is that! It also explains why people will say they’ve risen out of their bodies and seen themselves when they’ve almost died. Astral projection is being able to induce this and control it. Obviously it would take time and practice but is very possible. I think it accounts for a lot of dreams where you swear you can fly. I had those when I was little and swore they were real – not just a dream but significantly different. Have you? “Out of body experience” is another version of the same idea.

What does that mean? There was a girl in an insane asylum who said she was able to leave her body. Obviously that sounds crazy right? That’s why she’s in there?? Then why was she able to tell the people what they wrote down where she couldn’t have possibly seen it? How many people who are “crazy” are really just incredibly perceptive and don’t understand what they’re seeing or doing? Isn’t it all in the presentation?

 We only see what we can perceive but there are unlimited images in the air. We only see what’s bouncing off of something and coming straight in our eyes but there are actually other reflections from all over the world mingled in there too. The air isn’t an empty space but filled with billions of particles of moisture. Humidity. Inside the air are tiny particles of water – water reflects light. When you’re looking in a cloud it would actually be reflecting images of the everything below it – it’s just that it’s so jumbled we can’t see it – or perceive it. Da Vinci and others have actually been able to see places from miles away that have been reflected in the sky. This is a natural phenomena but makes you wonder why it doesn’t happen more.

I could get into the details and how and why I think all this could happen but I’ll save that for another book or my web site. I just know there is something to it and it’s definitely explainable but we first have to accept it as a possibility. Just keep an eye or three out and maybe you’ll start to notice things yourself. ;-)

Da Vinci on why the sky is blue:

“I say that the blueness we see in the atmosphere is not intrinsic color, but is caused by warm vapor evaporated in minute and insensible atoms on which the solar rays fall, rendering them luminous against the infinite darkness of the fiery sphere which lies beyond and includes it. Hence it follows, as I say, that the atmosphere assumes this azure hue by reason of the particles of moisture which catch the rays of the sun.”
